Beijing embroidery

Beijing embroidery, also called ‘court embroidery’, is a traditional Beijing handicraft. It reached its heyday in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is made of silk wool and first-class cotton brocade, and decorated with all kinds of finely embroidered patterns. It is exquisite, elegant, smooth and shiny, with even stitches. Characteristic techniques are pingjin and dazixiu. (by Zhu Kai)
