Ancient and modern

Opened in 1550 (the ninth year of Jiajing reign in the Ming Dynasty), Liubiju produces local-flavor pickles. Liu Bi, or ‘six musts’, derived from its principle requiring well-selected material and good processing. The plaque was inscribed by Yan Song, the prime minister in the reign of Jiajing. Its most famous traditional products are Babao Pickles, Babao Melon, and Sweetened Garlic. (by Zhu Kai)
