Cover for spectacles with cloud pattern and four golden characters

Qing Dynasty
Length: 14.5 cm, Width: 6 cm
Collected in the Capital Museum

The cloud pattern is embroidered with blue, light blue and dark blue silk threads and is bordered with white and bluish white silk threads to produce a stereotypical effect. There are two characters on the obverse and two more on the reverse, which are embroidered with twisted gold threads and which, put together, mean ‘be perceptive of the minutest detail’. The colors are sober and the style is of a classic elegance.
